Sweet Bonanza POP takes one of Pragmatic Play’s biggest franchises and squeezes it into the much smaller format of its new POP range. The familiar candy landscape, fruit and colourful sweets are all still here, but the grid now has just 3 reels and 5 rows. Everything moves faster and feels noticeably lighter than the original Sweet Bonanza, which is exactly what the POP series is designed to do.
The basic recipe has not changed much: Scatter Pays wins trigger tumbles, while the real multiplier potential waits inside Free Spins. The new POP symbols are the main twist. They can help trigger the bonus while also awarding fixed Spark, Snap or Burst prizes, with three POPs immediately paying the full 25,000x maximum win. It is unmistakably Sweet Bonanza, just stripped down into a quicker and much more casual version.
Sweet Bonanza POP uses 3 reels, 5 rows and Scatter Pays. Landing at least 5 matching symbols anywhere on the 15-cell grid creates a win, with higher symbol counts paying more. Every win triggers a tumble: the winning symbols disappear, the remaining symbols drop down and new ones fill the empty positions until no further win appears.
The highest RTP is 97.05%, with 96.58%, 95.59% and 94.56% versions also available. Volatility is medium, hit frequency is 30.12% and the maximum win reaches 25,000x the bet. Stakes are listed from 0.10 to 250 outside markets with tighter local limits. Compared with the main Sweet Bonanza series, this is a much calmer package on paper, even though the enormous top prize still sits at the far end of the maths.
Wins need at least 5 matching symbols anywhere on the grid. Once a win is formed, those symbols disappear and new ones tumble into place. The sequence continues for as long as another paying group lands.
With only 15 positions on the entire grid, the system is much tighter than in the original 6×5 Sweet Bonanza. Symbol wins themselves reach up to 50x the bet for 9 or more matching premium symbols.
The new POP symbols work together with the normal lollipop Scatters. Any combination of 3 or more Scatters and POP symbols triggers the Free Spins feature.
If POP symbols are included in that trigger, they also award an immediate fixed prize:
This is easily the biggest difference from a normal Sweet Bonanza trigger. A bonus can therefore begin with a substantial win already paid before the first Free Spin has even started.
The bonus begins with 10 Free Spins. Candy Bomb Multipliers can now land with values reaching 1,000x.
Multiplier symbols remain on the grid throughout the current tumble sequence. Once the tumbles stop, all visible multiplier values are added together and the combined multiplier is applied to the total win from that sequence. The multipliers then disappear before the next Free Spin.
Further Scatters can extend the bonus. 3 Scatters award 5 extra spins, while 4 Scatters award 10 extra spins. The combination of a tiny grid and multipliers reaching 1,000x means the bonus is simple to follow, but one unusually strong tumble can still completely change the result.
Sweet Bonanza POP is a sensible version of Sweet Bonanza for players who like the original idea but do not necessarily want its heavier volatility or larger grid. The smaller format makes every spin quick to read, tumbles move along nicely and the POP prizes add something genuinely useful rather than simply changing the visuals. A 97.05% top RTP is also excellent by current standards, and keeping the 25,000x max win gives the smaller game some surprisingly serious potential.
It is still very familiar, though. The candy theme, tumbles and multiplier bombs have been used countless times by now, and the base game becomes extremely simple once the novelty of the compact grid wears off. The POP range is deliberately designed that way, so this is more streamlined than ambitious. As a lighter Sweet Bonanza it works well; as a completely new slot, there is not quite enough here to make it stand out.
