Start your engines, because it’s time to hit the racetrack! Formula x10000 swaps the usual fruit machine symbols for racing cars and takes us into the world of professional motorsport. BGaming’s latest release features a sleek circuit setting, with red race cars, helmets, and drivers appearing across the reels. Roaring engines and energetic background music help create the racing atmosphere, although the actual playing area is pretty basic. Don’t expect anything resembling a proper racing simulator here.
The real action takes place during the Bonus game, where you pick one of five racing cars and watch it speed toward the finish line. Each vehicle carries a growing multiplier, although its race can end at any moment. The bonus can award up to 9,990x the bet, with the game’s overall maximum payout reaching 10,490x. It’s a decent idea on paper, but the actual experience feels incredibly limited. There’s almost nothing happening in the base game, and even the racing bonus is over after just a few seconds.
Formula x10000 uses a traditional 5-reel, 3-row layout with 10 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed by landing matching symbols on consecutive reels from left to right. The higher-paying symbols include racing cars, drivers, and helmets, while the lower-value positions are filled with standard playing card ranks. The checkered flag Scatter is the most important special symbol, as landing at least three activates the game’s only main bonus feature.
The RTP is 96.10%, while volatility is classified as very high. Hit frequency sits at just 11.55%, meaning a winning result occurs on average a little more often than once every nine spins. Regular gameplay is capped at 500x the bet, but the overall maximum payout can reach 10,490x when the bonus is included. Betting limits vary between versions, with the developer’s demo offering stakes from €0.20 to €24. Most of the game’s real potential is concentrated in the racing bonus, as regular reel wins are fairly limited.
Formula x10000 keeps its mechanics extremely straightforward. Alongside the basic reel gameplay, there’s one main bonus feature, a lap counter, and four different bonus purchase options.
The checkered flag Scatter symbol is responsible for activating the racing bonus. Landing three or more Scatters anywhere on the reels during a single spin starts the feature.
The number of Scatters also determines the maximum possible payout:
Naturally, landing more Scatters opens the door to bigger potential payouts. However, the actual amount you receive depends on what happens during the race itself.
Instead of traditional free spins, Formula x10000 features a short racing competition.
When the bonus begins, five different racing cars appear on the screen. You choose one of them, press START, and watch the drivers accelerate toward the finish line. Each car carries its own multiplier, which continues increasing as it travels along the track. However, the cars can stop at different points during the race, freezing their multipliers wherever they finish. Once the competition ends, the final multiplier attached to your chosen car determines your payout.
There’s a small sense of involvement thanks to the initial selection, but choosing a particular car doesn’t give you any real control over the result. The whole feature is also over pretty quickly, with no additional free spins or other mechanics to keep things going.
Formula x10000 includes four bonus purchase options that let you jump straight into the racing feature:
The 800x purchase is particularly expensive, especially considering that the actual payout can end up being significantly smaller than the purchase price.
Above the reels sits the Laps Counter, which tracks how many spins have passed since the previous bonus round. The counter resets whenever the racing feature is triggered naturally or purchased through the Buy Bonus menu.
Despite fitting the motorsport theme nicely, it doesn’t actually provide any gameplay benefits. It doesn’t increase multipliers or improve the chances of triggering the next bonus. It’s simply a little extra detail that keeps track of your spins.
Formula x10000 has an interesting enough concept, especially since Formula-style racing isn’t something we see particularly often in slots. Unfortunately, the execution leaves quite a lot to be desired. The base game is extremely basic, and spinning through a handful of racing cars and drivers gets old pretty quickly. The very high volatility and 11.55% hit frequency don’t exactly help either, especially when there are no smaller features to break up the action.
The racing bonus is at least something a little different, and watching your chosen car compete against the others can be entertaining for a moment. The problem is that the entire feature ends almost as soon as it begins, with barely any player involvement beyond picking a driver. When that’s the only real attraction the game has to offer, there simply isn’t much reason to keep coming back. Formula x10000 is a decent experiment, but ultimately a pretty forgettable release in our books.
