Bjorn throws Thunderkick into a much darker corner than usual. An 8×8 grid sits in a misty Nordic forest, with Bjorn standing in the middle while Draugr and Trolls keep appearing around him. The setting is simple, but it works because the main character is not just decoration: Bjorn actually moves across the board, clears symbols and fights whatever is left once the normal cluster wins have finished.
That Hero Hunt system is the part that gives the game its own identity. Defeated enemies can drop Loot or increase the global multiplier, and Bjorn’s path can create fresh space for another cascade. Random Abilities then change how useful those hunts become, while the bonus lets the upgrades stay active and build over several spins. There is a lot happening for a Thunderkick game, although the 5,000x max win and roughly 94.2% RTP keep the maths from feeling quite as exciting as the mechanics.
Bjorn uses an 8×8 grid with Cluster Pays. Five or more matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically create a win, after which the winning symbols disappear and new ones fall into place. Bjorn begins in the centre of the grid and also acts as a wild whenever he is standing still. Draugr and the larger 3×3 Troll are enemy symbols rather than ordinary paying icons, and both become important once the Hero Hunt begins.
The published RTP is around 94.22%, volatility is high and the maximum win is 5,000x the bet. Stakes run from 0.10 to 100. The game is therefore fairly demanding mathematically, especially compared with many 96% releases. Most of the entertainment comes from long sequences where cluster wins, enemy kills, loot and multiplier increases keep feeding into one another rather than from the normal symbol paytable alone.
After the normal cluster wins and cascades have finished, any Draugr still on the grid activate Hero Hunt. Bjorn moves towards the enemies, defeats them and destroys regular symbols along his path. That opens fresh spaces on the grid, so new symbols can fall in and potentially restart the cascade sequence.
Defeated enemies can leave behind loot or increase the global multiplier, which applies to both cluster wins and loot prizes. Bjorn remains where the hunt finishes and acts as a wild while standing still.
A Troll can also enter the grid as a 3×3 enemy. Defeating it counts as killing nine Draugr at once, making it especially useful in the bonus where enemy defeats are tied directly to extra spins.
Bjorn can receive random Abilities and upgrades that change how the Hero Hunt develops. The three main powers are:
Each Ability can be upgraded, so there are effectively six stages to unlock. In the base game they last only for the current round, but the Bonus Game makes them persistent.
The bonus does not use a traditional bonus trigger. Every Scatter that lands gets its own chance to activate the feature, meaning even a single Scatter can send you into the Bonus Game.
The feature starts with 5 Free Spins and 1–3 random Abilities or upgrades. Every 20 defeated Draugr awards 2 extra Free Spins and another 1–3 Abilities or upgrades. A Troll counts as nine defeated Draugr, so one well-timed appearance can move the counter forward quickly. All unlocked powers stay active for the rest of the bonus.
There are three boosted betting modes and one direct route into the bonus.
The boosted modes are useful if you still want to play the base game, while the 150x option skips straight to the part where Bjorn’s upgrade system has the most room to develop.
The Hero Hunt makes the main character genuinely useful, and it is satisfying when Bjorn cuts through several Draugr, opens new spaces and keeps the same round alive. The bonus also has a proper sense of progression because the Abilities persist, so a successful run can gradually become much stronger instead of simply repeating five identical Free Spins.
The problem is the value around that idea. An RTP around 94.22% is difficult to ignore, high volatility makes weaker stretches feel long, and a 5,000x maximum win is fairly modest compensation for that profile. Starting the bonus with only five spins can also make some features disappear before the upgrade system has time to develop. Mechanically interesting and genuinely different, but the numbers make Bjorn harder to recommend than it is to appreciate.
