The theme is simple, but it works. Boomberries does not try to tell some huge story or dress fruit symbols up as ancient warriors, which is probably for the best. It is not the freshest idea ELK has ever made, and the fruit theme is about as familiar as it gets in slots. Slot features: Boomberries

Basics: Boomberries uses a 6×7 cluster pays grid. A winning cluster is formed when 5 or more matching symbols land connected horizontally or vertically. When a winning cluster lands, the winning symbols are removed from the grid. New symbols then drop into the empty spaces, giving the spin a chance to continue with more wins.
Big symbols: Big symbols can land on the grid in 2×2, 3×3 or 4×4 sizes. These larger symbols can help form bigger clusters and create stronger connections when they land in useful positions.
Hot Zones: When a position is part of a winning cluster, that position becomes active as a Hot Zone. If another win lands on the same position, it receives a x2 multiplier. Further wins on that same position double the value, and single position multipliers can rise up to x2,048.
Hot Zone Strike: Hot Zone Strike can trigger on any symbol drop in the base game or bonus rounds. It places x2 multipliers on a random number of grid positions. If a selected position already has a multiplier, the existing value is doubled instead.

Wilds: Boomberries has three Wild types. The regular Wild substitutes for paying symbols and helps form clusters. The X-Bomber Wild selects a random paying symbol or Wild and replaces paying symbols in an X-shape with that symbol. X-Bomber Wilds can activate Hot Zones and multiplier values.
Bonus Game: Landing 3 Bonus symbols triggers the Bonus Game with 10 free spins. During the feature, multiplier values stay on the grid between spins. Landing 2 or 3 Bonus symbols during the round awards +3 or +5 extra free spins.
Super Bonus Game: The Super Bonus Game is the stronger version of the bonus. It can trigger when the bonus starts with a persistent multiplier feature active. Our verdict: Boomberries

Boomberries is a strong slot mechanically, even if the theme feels a bit safe. The Hot Zone multipliers, Collector and Dealer features give the game plenty of depth, and the 25,000x max win adds serious chase value.

The main downside is the 94% RTP, which is hard to ignore. The game also feels like a fruity remix of earlier ELK ideas rather than something completely new.

Still, Boomberries works well if you enjoy cluster slots with growing position multipliers and bonus rounds that can build pressure. It is not ELK’s freshest release, but it is fun, polished and clearly above average.
