Doctor Dust drops Bullshark Games into a toxic wasteland where a masked plague doctor wanders between radioactive barrels, rusty machinery and whatever is left of civilisation. It is noticeably darker than most of the studio’s recent games, and the grimy post-apocalyptic setting gives the 5×5 grid a surprisingly strong identity.
The mechanics are where things get more interesting. Winning symbols fill a collection bar that gradually unlocks four different Grid Boosters, ranging from cloned rows to Multiplier Wilds and Power Lines. It has very little Reactoonz style DNA, but Bullshark gives the formula enough of its own ideas that Doctor Dust rarely feels like a straight copy.
Doctor Dust uses a 5×5 grid with Cluster Pays, where at least 4 matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically form a win. Winning clusters disappear through cascades, allowing new symbols to drop into the empty spaces and potentially continue the sequence.
The default RTP is 96.30%, with a lower 94.26% version also available. Volatility is high, hit frequency sits around 20.6%, stakes range from 0.10 to 75 and the maximum win reaches 12,000x the bet.
The important part is the collection meter beside the grid. Every winning symbol fills it, with each group of eight collected symbols unlocking another random Grid Booster. Reach 40 symbols during one spin and the Surface Search bonus opens.
Four different Grid Boosters can activate once the collection meter starts filling:
The boosters trigger one after another, which means one modifier can create the setup for the next. Cell multipliers are also carried into qualifying cluster wins, so the grid can escalate quickly when several effects cooperate.
Collecting 40 symbols triggers Surface Search with all four Grid Boosters available on the opening spin. During the feature, every eight winning symbols unlock another booster for the following spin, and collecting at least eight symbols also awards another Free Spin. There is no fixed maximum length, so the bonus survives as long as the meter keeps getting fed.
Toxic Vault is the stronger version and requires at least 72 collected symbols. It guarantees two opening Free Spins, with the second one again using all four Grid Boosters.
Doctor Dust offers four options through the Bonus Buy menu. Two of them use FeatureSpins, while the other two buy the bonus rounds directly:
All four options are marked with extreme volatility, so even the boosted FeatureSpins are clearly aimed at players looking for a much more aggressive version of the game.
Doctor Dust takes a familiar cluster-collection blueprint and does enough strange things with it to stand out. Clone, Switch and Power Line are more interesting than the usual collection modifiers, and watching several Grid Boosters fire one after another can make the otherwise quiet 5×5 board suddenly become very busy.
It can still be brutally dry when the collection meter refuses to move, and the basic structure is easy to recognise. Still, the toxic setting, open-ended bonuses and genuinely useful interaction between the boosters make this one of Bullshark’s stronger releases.
