Slot review: Extra Chilli More Chilli

Extra Chilli More Chilli brings Big Time Gaming back to one of its best-known Megaways releases, and visually it barely tries to hide the connection. The Mexican market, colourful chillies and familiar extra reel are all still here, so anyone who played the 2018 original will know exactly where they are. The difference is that the base game now has much more going on between bonus triggers, thanks to random Chilli Bonus Respins and four modifiers that can change the next spin completely.

That is really what makes the sequel work. Duplicate Wild, Increased Ways, Double Multiplier and Chilli Wild can all appear in the base game, while Free Spins can lock one or more of them in for the entire feature. The original formula is still obvious underneath, but there are now more ways for an ordinary spin to turn into something interesting. It feels like a proper update rather than a completely different game wearing the Extra Chilli name.

Slot overview: Extra Chilli More Chilli

Extra Chilli More Chilli uses six Megaways reels with variable heights of up to seven symbols, creating as many as 117,649 ways to win. Matching symbols pay from left to right on consecutive reels, after which winning symbols disappear and new ones fall into place through reactions. An extra horizontal reel adds one symbol to reels 2–5 and is also where Fireworks Wilds and, during Free Spins, Scatters can appear.

The standard RTP is 96.39%, rising to 96.41% with Power Play and 96.45% through the Bonus Buy. Volatility is very high and the maximum win reaches 30,000x the bet. Stakes range from 0.20 to 33.00. Compared with the original Extra Chilli, the biggest practical change is that the base game has more feature activity instead of asking you to simply wait for the next Scatter combination.

Slot features: Extra Chilli More Chilli

Chilli Bonus Respins

Any base-game spin can randomly trigger a Chilli Bonus Respin, with one of four modifiers attached:

Duplicate Wild makes Fireworks Wilds create additional Purple Chilli Wilds in a random direction.
Increased Ways guarantees at least four symbols on every reel, including the Extra Reel.
Double Multiplier starts the win multiplier at 2x and increases it by another 2x after each reaction.
Chilli Wild turns every Green Chilli on reels 2–5 into a wild.

The four bonuses all change the same Megaways setup in different ways, which is why the base game feels noticeably busier than in the original Extra Chilli.

Free Spins and the Gamble Wheel

Landing 3 HOT Scatters gives 10 Free Spins with one random Chilli Bonus. Each additional Scatter adds another Chilli Bonus until all four are active, while further Scatters award 5 extra spins each.

The normal win multiplier starts at 1x and increases after every reaction without a fixed upper limit. If Double Multiplier is active, the progression starts at 2x and increases by 2x instead. All Chilli Bonuses remain active for the whole feature.

Before Free Spins begin, the Gamble Wheel lets you risk your current setup for another Chilli Bonus. A successful gamble adds one more, while a failed attempt normally loses the entire feature. The final purple wheel is more forgiving, as even a failed gamble still awards 10 Free Spins with one Chilli Bonus.

During the bonus, Scatters appear only on the Extra Reel. Three add 4 extra spins and four add 8, so a good feature can keep the same multiplier and modifiers running for quite a while.

Bonus Buy and Power Play

There are two paid ways to increase the amount of feature action.

Bonus Buy costs 100x the bet and starts 10 Free Spins with one Chilli Bonus.
Power Play costs 5x the bet per spin and makes Chilli Bonus Respins appear more frequently in the base game.

Bonus Buy runs at 96.45% RTP and Power Play at 96.41%, compared with 96.39% in the standard game. Power Play keeps the base game involved, while Bonus Buy goes straight to the main feature.

Our verdict: Extra Chilli More Chilli

Extra Chilli More Chilli is a strong sequel because it improves the part of the original that had aged the most: the base game. The four Chilli Bonuses give ordinary spins more purpose, while Free Spins still keep the familiar rising multiplier that made Extra Chilli so memorable in the first place. Being able to stack several modifiers before the bonus begins also creates much more variation between features, and the Gamble Wheel adds a real risk-versus-reward decision instead of a purely cosmetic choice.

It is still a very volatile Megaways slot, so long quiet stretches have not disappeared, and the 30,000x max win is actually lower than the original game’s headline potential. Even so, this feels like a thoughtful update rather than an unnecessary remake. Fans of the first game should feel at home immediately, while the extra respins and locked modifiers give the sequel enough of its own identity to justify coming back.
