Great Game Serengeti packs the rifle and moves Hacksaw Gaming’s hunting trip from the mountains of Great Game Rockies straight onto the African savanna. Lions, rhinos, zebras and giraffes fill the reels while our returning hunter stands off to the side, apparently convinced that firing at targets above a slot grid is a perfectly normal way to spend a safari. The warm sunsets and shifting daylight look great, even if the theme itself is hardly unexplored territory.
This is very much a sequel rather than a completely new expedition. Hunting Season returns as the main attraction, turning animals into valuable Coins and Traps whenever the hunter actually manages to hit something. The big newcomer is Stampede Reveal, which strips away the weaker symbols and guarantees a hunt, while three different Free Spins bonuses gradually pile more onto the same shooting mechanic. Great Game Serengeti is still pretty straightforward by Hacksaw standards, but there is enough going on to keep the hunt interesting.
Great Game Serengeti uses a classic 5×3 grid with 9 fixed paylines. The highest RTP is 96.29%, with 94.21%, 92.30% and 86.24% versions also available. Volatility is medium, hit frequency is 36.78%, and the maximum win reaches 5,000x the bet. Stakes range from 0.10 to 200.
The base game revolves around Hunting Season, where five shots are fired at targets above the reels and animals beneath successful hits turn into Coins or Traps. Wilds can pick up multipliers as high as 20x, while Stampede Reveal guarantees a hunt with the weaker royal symbols removed. Three different Scatter triggers then lead into Khaki Quest, Roaring Reign and Zebrawl, each adding a slightly stronger spin on the same core idea.
Landing a Hunting Season symbol starts the main feature after normal line wins have been paid. One target sits above each reel and the hunter fires 5 shots from left to right. Some hit, some miss, and any animal sitting on a reel beneath a successful shot turns into either a Coin or Trap. Basically, all the setup comes down to hoping our hunter remembered to visit the shooting range before the safari.
The animals carry 1–4 Stars, which decide how strong the resulting prize can be. Bronze Coins are worth 0.2x–1x, Silver 2x–5x, Gold 10x–50x and Diamond Coins can reach 100x–500x. A 4-Star animal becomes a Trap, which collects the values of the Coins and other Traps on the grid into itself.
Wilds add another layer to the shooting. If a Wild sits on a reel whose target gets hit, it receives a random 2x–20x multiplier. Once the Coins and Traps have been worked out, that multiplier is applied to between 1 and 5 of them. A good hunt can therefore go from a handful of decent Coins to something much healthier if a strong Wild gets dragged into the action.
Stampede Reveal can randomly trigger before a normal spin. When it does, a Hunting Season symbol is guaranteed and the weaker card symbols are removed from the upcoming grid, leaving much more room for the animal symbols that actually matter during the hunt.
It is not a huge mechanical revolution, but it is a smart improvement over Great Game Rockies. Filling more of the grid with animals makes those five shots feel considerably more important, especially when several high-Star animals are sitting underneath the targets waiting to be converted.
Landing 3 Scatters triggers Khaki Quest with 8 Free Spins. The game works much like the base round, except Hunting Season symbols appear more often, so the bonus spends less time politely showing you line wins and more time actually firing the rifle.
Landing 2 or 3 Scatters during the feature adds 2 or 4 extra Free Spins. Khaki Quest is the simplest of the three bonuses, but that extra Hunting Season frequency makes it a decent step up from the base game without throwing another pile of rules onto the screen.
Landing 4 Scatters gives 10 Roaring Reign Free Spins and adds the Lion Bar beside the reels. Random Stampede Reveals are switched off here. Instead, every low-paying symbol sitting on a reel hit during Hunting Season adds 1 step to the meter. Fill all 10 steps and the following spin gets a guaranteed Stampede Reveal. Any extra progress carries over after the meter resets.
This works nicely because even the weak symbols can suddenly help build toward something useful. You are still relying on the same shooting feature, but now poor-looking hunts can at least shove the Lion Bar closer to a much better one.
The rarest trigger is 5 Scatters, which unlocks Zebrawl and 10 Free Spins. It keeps the Lion Bar mechanics from Roaring Reign but also guarantees a Hunting Season symbol on every single spin.
That simple change makes a massive difference. Rather than waiting for the main mechanic to show up, every spin turns into a hunt, while the Lion Bar keeps feeding Stampede Reveals into the round. Zebrawl is easily the strongest version of Great Game Serengeti – and fittingly, it is also the one you cannot simply buy.
Great Game Serengeti offers 5 purchase options, split between boosted base-game spins and direct bonus entries.
The 50x and 100x FeatureSpins are probably the more interesting choices here, since they let you play around with the actual hunting mechanics rather than simply skipping straight into Free Spins. Zebrawl cannot be purchased, so that one still has to be found out in the wild.
Great Game Serengeti is a pretty clear continuation of Great Game Rockies, but we think the move to the Serengeti improves the formula. Stampede Reveal gives Hunting Season better setups, the Lion Bar adds an actual sense of progress and the three bonuses scale nicely from simple extra hunts all the way up to Zebrawl firing on every spin.
The shooting mechanic is still the main reason the game works. There is something satisfying about watching the targets get hit and seeing a row of animals suddenly turn into Coins, Traps and Wild multipliers. On the other hand, if the shots miss or the useful animals sit under the wrong targets, there is not much else in the base game to pick up the slack.
