Great Ghosts! has a strong bonus idea and a weak base game, and that balance defines the whole slot. The respin feature is clearly the reason to play. The expanding grid is solid, the three colored modifiers each do something useful, and the full three modifier version has serious punch. The problem is that the main game offers very little on its own, so long dead stretches are part of the experience. That makes the slot feel narrower than its 40,000x headline suggests. Still, the bonus is built well enough to carry the game, and when the crystal ball setup comes together it has much more bite than the cartoony theme first implies.
