Slot review: Power Puff

Power Puff takes Red Tiger beneath the surface to a bright coral reef where three pufferfish sit above the reels waiting for wilds to send bubbles their way. The 5×3 layout itself is deliberately simple, but the Green, Red and Yellow Puffers can turn one ordinary wild into something much more useful. It is colourful, easy to read and thankfully does a little more than simply swap fruit symbols for fish.

Each Puffer changes wilds differently. Green adds a multiplier, Red clones the wild across the whole reel and Yellow leaves behind frames that eventually turn into Pearl prizes. More than one can activate on the same wild, which is where the mechanic starts to come together properly. Free Spins then lock the active Puffer abilities in for the whole bonus, so landing two or three at once before the feature gives you a noticeably stronger starting point.

Slot overview: Power Puff

Power Puff uses 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 fixed paylines, with regular wins forming from left to right. Wilds substitute for normal paying symbols and, whenever one lands, it sends a bubble to one or more of the three Puffers. That can either apply the corresponding ability to the wild immediately or trigger Free Spins with that Puffer feature active.

The official RTP is 96.08%, hit frequency is 29.08% and the standard maximum payout reaches 3,433x the bet. Stakes range from 0.10 to 500 and the volatility is medium. The paytable is secondary to the wild system, and most of the real potential appears when several Puffer effects start stacking on the same spin.

Slot features: Power Puff

Three Puffer abilities

Whenever a wild sends a bubble to one of the Puffers, that fish can upgrade it for the current spin.

The Green Puffer gives the wild a random 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier. If several multiplier wilds take part in the same winning line, their values are added together.

The Red Puffer clones the wild across its entire reel. If Green and Red activate together, the multiplier is added first and every cloned wild keeps the same value.

The Yellow Puffer leaves a frame behind. A multiplier wild creates as many frames as its multiplier value, and repeated placements upgrade them from White to Blue and finally Gold. At the end of the base spin, frames turn into Pearls with prizes ranging from small cash values up to the 2,500x Grand prize.

Power Puff and Free Spins

A school of fish can randomly cross the reels and trigger the Power Puff modifier. Any wild landing during that spin is then guaranteed to trigger Free Spins instead of merely having a chance.

Free Spins always begin with 10 spins, and every wild automatically receives all Puffer abilities that were active when the feature started. If Yellow is active, its frames remain on the grid throughout the entire bonus and upgrade as more are added. Only at the end are they converted into Pearls and paid.

Power Puff can also activate during the bonus. It can award 1–3 extra spins or activate a previously inactive Puffer. Each newly activated ability also adds 5 extra spins, meaning a weaker bonus can still improve considerably after it begins.

Feature Buy

There are four purchase options, each guaranteeing a stronger setup than the previous one.

Wild costs 3x the bet per spin and guarantees at least one wild.
Free Spins costs 30x the bet and triggers the bonus with at least one Puffer ability active.
Double Free Spins costs 60x the bet and starts with at least two Puffer abilities.
Triple Free Spins costs 100x the bet and starts with all three Puffer abilities active.

The pricing is unusually low compared with many modern bonus buys, but the cheaper options also leave much more of the final setup to chance. Triple Free Spins is the only purchase that guarantees the full Green, Red and Yellow combination from the start.

Our verdict: Power Puff

Power Puff has a simple foundation, but the three Puffer abilities interact well enough to stop it feeling basic. Green multipliers become much more useful when Red spreads them across an entire reel, while Yellow adds a separate Pearl collection on top. When two or three abilities land together, one wild can suddenly affect almost the whole spin, and Free Spins make those combinations much easier to build around.

The main limitation is the relatively modest max win. A standard maximum of 3,433x feels small next to many current releases. The 5×3 grid and 20 paylines are also very traditional, so the game relies heavily on its Puffer system to stay interesting.
