Wicked Grin looks like somebody found a forgotten 1930s cartoon reel, scratched it up and then let Hacksaw Gaming turn it into a slot. Boney Bill stands beside the grid in red shorts and white gloves with a grin that definitely does not suggest good intentions, while fruit, bells and card suits tumble across a faded checkerboard background. It is creepy without becoming full horror, and the old rubber-hose animation style gives the game much more personality than another pile of skulls and candles would have managed.
The clever part is how much importance Hacksaw gives to the bottom row. Wicked Grin symbols do absolutely nothing higher up, but reach the lowest position and they can transform an entire reel into Coins and Multipliers. Epic versions can even force other Grins to expand at the same time. The two bonus rounds then take that same idea in completely different directions: one builds reel multipliers while the other stores Coin values until the very end. Simple foundation, surprisingly good mileage.
Wicked Grin uses 5 reels and 5 rows with Scatter Pays, meaning at least 6 matching symbols anywhere on the grid create a win. Winning symbols disappear and new ones tumble into the empty spaces until no further win forms. There are no wilds at all, so the ordinary fruit and card symbols have to do the work themselves while the special Grin symbols wait for the right position.
The highest RTP is 96.27%, with 94.32%, 92.28% and 86.28% versions also available. Volatility is medium, the maximum win reaches 10,000x the bet and bets range from 0.10 to 100. Regular symbol payouts are fairly modest, which makes the expanding Coin reels much more important than the standard paytable. In practice, the grid can look busy for several tumbles without doing much serious damage until one of those grinning skulls finally reaches the bottom.
When a Wicked Grin lands on the bottom row, it expands across its whole reel after regular wins have finished. Every covered position turns into either a Coin or a Multiplier.
Coin values are split into several tiers:
Multipliers affect Coins above them on the same reel and qualifying Coins on neighbouring reels. The Epic Wicked Grin goes one step further: when it expands, every other Grin already visible on the grid expands as well.
FS and Super FS symbols also need to reach the bottom row. Once they do, they expand across their reel, with each covered position awarding 1, 2 or 3 Free Spins. One expanding symbol therefore awards between 5 and 15 spins, and a maximum of two can appear together.
A regular FS symbol starts Stash N Stack. Every reel has its own multiplier beginning at 1x. Whenever a Wicked Grin expands, Coins on that reel are multiplied by the current value, after which that reel’s multiplier increases by +1 for later spins.
A Super FS symbol instead opens Coin Craze. Each reel now has a Collector that stores Coin values from expanding Grins. Multipliers can boost those stored amounts, and nothing is paid until the bonus ends, when all six Collector totals are added together.
Both bonuses can award another 5–15 spins from new expanding bonus symbols, with up to 30 extra spins available. Stash N Stack builds power openly spin by spin, while Coin Craze keeps everything locked away until the final reveal.
There are four FeatureSpins and direct-buy options for anyone who wants to get to the interesting part faster.
The 80x Stash N Stack purchase is clearly the friendlier entry point, while Coin Craze asks considerably more for the privilege of watching your money sit locked above the reels until the very end.
Wicked Grin is one of those Hacksaw games where a very specific rule ends up carrying the entire slot. Everything revolves around that bottom row, and once you understand it, the game becomes pleasantly easy to read. The expanding Grins are satisfying, Epic Grins can create proper chain reactions and the two bonuses genuinely feel different rather than being the same feature with slightly better numbers. Coin Craze in particular does a good job of building suspense by refusing to pay anything until the end.
The downside is that the base game can feel pretty empty when the Grins keep landing one row too high. Normal Scatter Pays wins are rarely exciting on their own, and 10,000x is no longer a huge max win by Hacksaw standards. Medium volatility softens the punishment a little, though, and the creepy old-cartoon presentation suits the mechanics perfectly.
