Thai Flower Power Play brings Blueprint Gaming back to its long-running Thai Flower theme with a very traditional 5×3 slot underneath. Golden temples, elephants, longtail boats and the familiar pink lotus surround ten fixed paylines, so visually there is very little here that will surprise anyone who has played earlier entries in the series. The whole presentation feels deliberately old-school rather than like an attempt to modernise Thai Flower completely.
The main change is the three-tier Power Play system. Paying 2x, 3x or 5x the normal stake can unlock a prize wheel, remove low-paying symbols or activate the Lotus Wild across all five reels. Free Spins then strip the reel set down to only three selected symbols, making combinations much easier to land. There is more going on than the basic layout first suggests, but the upgrades come at a considerable price and all winnings are still calculated from the underlying base stake.
Thai Flower Power Play uses 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 fixed paylines. Wins are formed from left to right, with only the highest-paying combination on each line counted. The Lotus symbol works as both wild and Scatter, appearing on reels 1, 3 and 5 during the standard base game. Three Scatters trigger 12 Free Spins, while four can increase the award to 16.
The highest RTP is 94.00%, with 93%, 92% and 90% configurations also reported. Volatility is high, hit frequency is 25% and the maximum win is only 1,200x the base stake. Bets range from 0.10 to 200. Those numbers are the biggest weakness of the game: the top prize is modest by current standards, while the enhanced Power Play modes can make each spin several times more expensive without increasing the base stake used to calculate payouts.
Landing 3 Scatters awards 12 Free Spins, while four can increase the feature to 16 spins.
Before the bonus starts, the game randomly chooses three paying symbols, and only those symbols appear on the reels for the entire feature. This dramatically reduces the number of possible symbols and makes longer matching lines much easier to form.
Wilds and Scatters are removed during Free Spins, so there are no retriggers. The selected symbol set remains unchanged until the bonus ends.
Power Play costs 2x the normal base stake per spin. Any win worth at least 2.5x the base stake activates the Power Play Wheel.
The wheel can either multiply the triggering win by up to 5x or award between 8 and 20 Free Spins. The important detail is that payouts are still calculated using the original base stake rather than the full 2x amount paid for the enhanced spin.
Super Power Play costs 3x the base stake and keeps the Power Play Wheel active while removing the low-paying royal symbols from the reel set.
Only the higher-paying picture symbols remain available in their place, although the removed positions can effectively create empty spaces. When Free Spins are awarded through Super Power Play, the three selected symbols are always picture symbols rather than low-paying royals.
Ultra Power Play costs 5x the base stake and uses the strongest version of the setup. The Lotus Wild/Scatter can now appear on all five reels instead of only reels 1, 3 and 5.
Consecutive wilds also award direct prizes and Free Spins:
Like Super Power Play, any three symbols selected for the Free Spins are guaranteed to be higher-paying picture symbols. Ultra gives the strongest feature access, but paying five times the base stake on every spin is a very expensive way to get there.
Thai Flower Power Play has a decent idea in letting players gradually strengthen an otherwise very simple classic slot. The three-symbol Free Spins are easy to understand, and Ultra Power Play noticeably changes the game by spreading the Lotus Wild across every reel. The Power Play Wheel also gives qualifying base-game wins another chance to turn into something useful instead of simply paying and disappearing.
The maths are difficult to overlook, though. A 94% top RTP is already weak, the maximum win stops at only 1,200x and the strongest mode asks for five times the normal stake while prizes are still based on the original wager. The base game itself is also extremely basic once the Power Play options are removed. There are a few solid ideas here, but the price of accessing them makes the whole package much harder to recommend.
