After a collect symbol performs its function, it is removed from the grid, so every respin effectively starts from an empty board again and the only thing that persists is the multiplier row above the reels. This is a very important rule, because the feature is about building the five overhead multipliers, not filling the grid with sticky symbols. When the respin feature ends, the values of the five overhead multipliers are added together, and that final total is paid as a bet multiplier.
