Shadow of Dominion - Demo & Slot Review

Shadow of Dominion is played on a 6×6 grid with a Scatter Pays system instead of traditional paylines. A win needs at least 8 matching symbols anywhere on the grid. After a win, the matching symbols disappear and new ones fall into the empty spaces, allowing another win to follow during the same round.

The RTP is 96.12%, with a lower 94.07% version also available. Volatility is high, bets range from 0.20 to 100, and the maximum win reaches 10,000x the bet.

Most of the game revolves around the progressive win multiplier. Every additional win during the same sequence pushes it higher, while Giant Symbols can add their own multiplier values on top. Dominion Respins then take the same basic ingredients and turn them into a collection feature, while Free Spins finally let the multiplier stick around for longer than a single base-game round.

Basics

Shadow of Dominion skips paylines completely. You need 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid, so there is no need to build wins from the left or connect anything in a particular direction.

Whenever a win lands, those symbols disappear and new ones drop into their places. If the replacements create another win, the process continues. Each new drop gives the game another chance to extend the round, which matters because the multiplier also grows along the way. A short chain might not do much, but once the board refuses to settle down for a few wins in a row, the mechanic starts making a lot more sense.

There are no wild symbols here. Instead, most of the heavier lifting is left to Giant Symbols and the multiplier system, which makes the grid feel a little cleaner despite having 36 positions to fill.

Symbols and features

The Win Multiplier sits beside the grid and increases by 1x after every additional symbol drop or respin. All wins are multiplied by its current value, but during the base game it resets when a completely new spin begins.

That means the normal game is constantly trying to build something and then immediately forget about it. One or two extra wins might only drag the multiplier up a little, while a longer sequence can suddenly make the final few hits much more important.

The other major ingredient is the Giant Symbol. A 2×2 Giant Symbol counts as 4 matching symbols, while a 3×3 version counts as 9. Each one also carries its own multiplier. If the Giant Symbol becomes part of a winning combination, that value is added directly to the active Win Multiplier.

This is where the feature gets much more interesting. A 3×3 symbol already fills a quarter of the entire grid and counts as enough symbols to form a scatter win on its own. Add a multiplier to it and suddenly one oversized monster can do quite a bit more than just block half the view.

Dominion Respins

Dominion Respins can activate randomly at the start of a spin. During the feature, one paying symbol type becomes the focus and matching symbols are collected toward the bottom of the grid. Respins continue as long as another active symbol lands, while every respin also increases the Win Multiplier. Giant Symbols can appear during the feature as well.

The more unusual part is the Symbol Upgrade. If one lands, the collected symbol is upgraded to the next symbol on the paytable. The upgrade applies to symbols that have already been collected as well as new ones arriving afterward, so a feature that looked fairly ordinary can suddenly become much more valuable halfway through.

Bonuses

Landing 3 Bonus symbols awards 6 Free Spins. Four symbols give 8 spins, five give 10 and six give the maximum 12 Free Spins.

The big difference from the base game is the multiplier. It starts at 1x and does not reset between free spins, meaning every additional win and useful Giant Symbol can keep building the same multiplier all the way until the feature ends. The bonus cannot be retriggered.

Super Free Spins use the same basic setup, but the trigger includes a Super Bonus symbol alongside the regular Bonus symbols. The reward begins at 6 spins and can again reach 12 depending on the number of Bonus symbols involved.

The important upgrade is simple: every Super Free Spin guarantees a Giant Symbol. The multiplier still persists throughout the bonus, so repeatedly putting Giant Symbols onto the grid gives it much more potential to actually build into something serious.
